PM Issues Decree Appointing Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz as FRA’s Deputy Chairman – Sunday 16 November 2025

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly has issued Decree No. 4177 of 2025, officially appointing Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz as Deputy Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority.

This strategic decree follows Presidential Decree No. 421 of 2025 by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which renewed the mandate of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh to serve as FRA Board Chairman, with a ministerial rank, for a further year starting from August 7, 2025, marking the commencement of his fourth term leading the Authority.

Dr. Abdel Aziz will assume the duties of the Deputy Chairman for the remainder of the current Board’s term, as established by Prime Minister’s Decree No. 2978 of 2022.

Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz brings over 25 years of extensive executive and leadership experience in the crucial insurance sector to his new role. He currently serves as an Advisor to FRA Chairman. His previous high-profile roles include serving as the CEO and Managing Director of Misr Life Insurance Company from 2021 to June 2025, having previously served as the Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of the same company between 2016 and 2021.

Beyond his significant domestic experience, Dr. Abdel Aziz has a strong international background, having worked in the GCC market at Al-Rajhi Takaful Company in Riyadh, where he served as Head of Life Insurance (2009–2012) and subsequently as Chief Technical Officer (2012–2014). He has been instrumental in the establishment of several start-up insurance companies across Egypt and GCC countries. His leadership record is marked by direct contributions to achieve robust growth rates, significantly enhancing profitability and increasing market share for the organizations he led. Furthermore, he has played a pivotal role in implementing vital restructuring and efficiency improvement plans that successfully reduced costs and boosted overall revenues and profits.

Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz holds a unique educational background, having earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.B.Ch.) from the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University in 1994. Demonstrating his commitment to professional development, he also successfully passed the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) in the United States in 1998.
