FRA Board of Directors chaired by Dr. Mohammed Farid, has issued a new resolution raising students insurance coverage to EGP 30,000, up from EGP 20,000.
The resolution aims to provide comprehensive, low-cost insurance coverage for millions of students nationwide, effective from 2025–2026 academic year. This historic step marks the first implementation of Article 60 of the Unified Insurance Law.
Dr. Mohammed Farid, FRA Chairman, confirmed that the resolution represents a qualitative shift in the government student insurance fund. It reinforces the role of insurance as an effective tool for protecting Egyptian families and supporting social stability.
FRA resolution No. 331 of 2025 increases the payout for natural death or non-school-related accidents to EGP 15,000 (up from EGP 10,000), regardless of the time or location of the incident.
Dr. Farid emphasized that the primary objective is to safeguard students’ educational journeys, ensuring that medical emergencies do not become financial barriers or burdens for Egyptian families.
The Fund serves as a comprehensive safety net, covering natural and accidental death, total or partial disability, and essential surgical and medical treatments.
Compensation for permanent partial disability is calculated as a percentage of the new EGP 30,000 ceiling, based on assessments by a specialized medical committee appointed by the Fund’s Board.
Moreover, the Fund will provide social and medical aid of EGP 2500 for students with chronic illnesses, claimable up to three times during their enrollment.
Fund’s Chairman is empowered to approve medical assistance for uninsured or partially insured surgeries, capped at the maximum benefit of EGP 30,000.
Specialized support for students with disabilities includes a one-time medical grant of EGP 1750 and a prosthetic/assistive device allowance of up to EGP 30,000 for equipment not covered by national health insurance.
These enhanced benefits are funded by a nominal annual subscription of EGP 10.60 (collected via school fees) and will take effect starting 2025-2026 academic year.
