In addition to Dr. Maha Marwan, Rapporteur of the NCW Cairo Branch; Ms. Engy Amin, Financial Inclusion Program Officer at UN Women; Ms. Yasmine Hassan, Deputy Head of the Gender Equality Working Group at the FRA; Ms. Dina Kamal, Deputy Head of the Central Dept. for Financial Literacy and Awareness. That is besides several female leaders from FRA, 39 facilitators and supervisors of the National Digital Savings and Loans Program (“Tahwisha”) from the governorates of Beheira, Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut, and Sohag.

The training was organized under the framework of “Tahwisha” program, led by the National Council for Women in cooperation with national partners, and in partnership with UN Women Egypt, the European Union Delegation to Egypt, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Egypt.

Dr. Islam Azzam emphasized that awareness of non-banking financial services represents a core pillar of the Authority’s strategy to unlock investment pathways for Egyptian women and broaden service accessibility—primarily microfinance, financial leasing, and other mechanisms. He noted that access alone is insufficient to achieve true financial inclusion unless accompanied by a clear understanding of available services, as well as consumer rights and obligations.

He added that FRA targets groups facing barriers to financial information through its awareness programs, including women in rural areas, thereby enhancing their ability to meet personal and household financial needs and driving economic empowerment.

Dr. Islam Azzam explained that the facilitator-training model relies on delivering simplified financial concepts within local communities. This approach enables women to identify non-banking services, understand their features and costs, and engage with licensed entities. He stressed that women’s financial empowerment is directly linked to their ability to evaluate available choices and select solutions tailored to their needs, noting that financial literacy strengthens resource management and maximizes the benefit of financing, insurance, and investment tools.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Assistant to Chairman, stated that the program focused on enhancing participants’ skills to convey financial information simply and effectively, training them to connect theoretical concepts directly to the practical needs of targeted women.

He noted that preparing facilitators extends beyond introducing non-banking financial services; it equips them to communicate effectively with beneficiaries, helping them understand available options and make sound investment decisions grounded in clear information and awareness of regulatory frameworks designed to protect consumers.

Dr. Abdel Aziz highlighted that FRA continues to refine its financial awareness tools to suit target audiences, leveraging national and international partnerships to execute training programs that reach broader demographics, particularly rural women in high-priority villages and underserved areas.

Dr. Maha Marwan, Rapporteur of the NCW Cairo Branch, commended FRA’s pivotal role in promoting non-banking financial literacy. She noted that facilitator training reinforces economic empowerment initiatives by building women’s capacity to navigate financial services and leverage tools to manage their resources effectively. She reiterated the importance of ongoing collaboration among the FRA, UN Women, and the NCW to deliver targeted programs that build financial capacity.

Ms. Engy Amin, Financial Inclusion Program Officer at UN Women, explained that collaborating with FRA to train female facilitators under “Tahwisha” will help raise financial awareness regarding various financing and insurance instruments for more than 120,000 rural women across Beheira, Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut, and Sohag in its initial phase. This milestone paves the way for further training expansion aligned with the national “Tahwisha” strategy, which aims to reach 1.2 million rural women nationwide to foster economic empowerment and integrate them into the formal economy.

During the closing session, participants affirmed that the training helped demystify complex financial concepts, equipping them with the practical skills needed to explain these topics simply and connect them to daily life.

One participant noted that the program broadened her understanding of non-banking financial services available in Egypt, highlighting the importance of directing beneficiaries toward licensed entities and official channels to secure reliable services suited to their needs.

Another participant shared that the program provided practical communication tools for engaging with rural women, emphasizing her commitment to transferring this knowledge to her local community so beneficiaries can understand available financial tools and how to utilize them effectively.

Participants expressed immense value in the three-day intensive workshop which concluded with both oral and digital assessments. They emphasized that the program expanded their knowledge of non-banking financial services and transformed their perspective on money management—shifting their focus from basic saving to actively exploring ways to invest and maximize savings.

[144
5446
["post-25382239","fra_news","type-fra_news","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-press-releases","tag-un-women
["GET
